If I have to staple it to her head.
Sep 12, 2006 I've been working on some unfinished projects so that I will hopefully have them completed before we move. The biggest one is Bryan's robot scarf (do you remember the robot scarf? The one that's all magic and tricky? I would link to it but that would mean sifting through my old posts to find it, and I'm feeling lazy.) It was supposed to be finished last Christmas, and then it was too hot to work on. I'm currently working on it here and there, but it's SO. BORING.
While I was sifting through my yarn, and alternating between working on THE MOST BORING SCARF IN THE UNIVERSE and crocheting a bag, Phoebe came over to me and requested that I make her a hat.
My child. Actually asked me to make her something. Specific. She even told me what color. PINK.
So, being the brilliant person that I am, I dropped everything (take that, boring ass scarf!) and started a new project. Yes, I know that's the opposite of trying to FINISH my current projects, but seriously. SHE ASKED ME. She even said please. How could I resist?
I picked an earflap hat pattern that I've been wanting to try for some time. I picked out the yarn, and okayed it with Phoebe. I cast on, and knit my heart out. I finished the short row shaping on both sides, and started on the body of the hat, and called Phoebe over so she could check my progress.
She said, "I don't want that pink hat."
Um. Seriously?
I will finish this damn hat. I will make her wear it. I will make her wear it EVERY DAY, so she regrets ever asking me to make her anything, ever again. And then, I'll make her wear it some more. See how fun it is to knit for the ones you love?
