Reeeeeeeally.

I had my doctor appointment yesterday, and I decided that my doc is a QUACK.  Bad news is?  Baby's not here yet, and I'm getting increasingly worried that this child will, indeed, make its appearance at about 4pm on Thursday.  Crap.

My doc didn't schedule an additional u/s (ya know, to check amniotic fluid levels or anything), but he went ahead and scheduled me for an induction.  On Sunday.  I told Bryan that if the baby's not here by Friday I'm calling the doc's office and discussing alternatives with him.  I vehemently refuse to be induced... UNLESS there's a damn good reason for it.  I've been induced with both girls, and GOOD GOD IT SUCKS.  Plus, with Phoebe I was only dilated to 8cm when she was born, and that's just not right.  It's not going to happen again, sohelpmegod.

The doc didn't tell me whether or not I was dilated, didn't tell me whether or not I was effaced, but *did* sign the induction order with a little wave as if to say, "Bye!  You're not my problem anymore, so get lost!"  I just might end up having this baby in my bathroom after all.  The doctor DID tell me, however, that he couldn't guarantee that I wouldn't have the baby on Thanksgiving.  REALLY?  You PUDWANKER!  No freakin' kidding.  He made it sound like this kid should come with a 90-day warantee and a free tire rotation.  I soooooooooo almost bit him on the arm.

So.  I broke out of my boredom funk, and I picked up an old pattern book that has some cute (okay, so they're really ugly, but I DON'T CARE) slipper patterns, and I was going to get started on some Christmas gifts.  Well.  There are knit and crochet patterns in there, and there are some really cute knit slippers for little kids.  Like, Phoebe's age.  Like, they have kitties and bunnies and puppies on them, and they're really cute.

I read through the pattern, and lo and behold I actually understood what the pattern was saying!  Since it didn't seem too hard, I grabbed my handy SnB book for reference, and knit one up.  It came out way too big, but I learned that a) I was knitting in the back loops instead of the front, b) I was purling wrong, and c) I actually CAN knit.  So I made the slippers again, complete with knitted bunny heads and knitted bunny ears, and they fit!  And they're damn adorable!  And I CAN KNIT!  (can you hear the choir and the trumpets and the angelic voices singing "Hallelujah?")

Bunny Phoebe

Phoebe loves them, although she did try very hard to pull the bunny head off.  She wore them all last night, and I am so proud of myself (can you tell?) that I FINALLY figured out basic knitting!

Next up I'm knitting Marissa a pair of leg warmers, which should take me approximately 30 years, since I'm slow and knitting doesn't yield results as quickly as crochet.  After that, I think I'll tackle circular needles, and then I absolutely must have a pattern for knit wool longies for the babies.  I'm just so FREAKIN' ECSTATIC that I actually knit, like, an actual THING!!!! that I could pee myself.  And, if I get a little over-enthusiastic, I just might.

Oh, one more thing.  I had previously requested that people take down their links to my blog, but all those old dreadful drama issues seem to have dissipated (look!  alliteration!  I DID learn something from that ancient old English teacher!), so if you want to link to me feel free to do so.  Gowaaan.  Do it.  You know you want to.

Oooh! I just hate that about OBGYN's! I've just heard too many stories about them not taking into consideration the mother's wants and expectations about the impending birth! (If there ever is a "next time"- and if it is possible, I highly recommend a certified nurse midwife!) And yes, inductions totally DO suck. I would totally take my 19 hour natural birth over my short and WAAY more painful second induction.Anyways, enough with scary birth stories.. you are obviously familiar with all those things. I hope you get your natural birth!

The slippers are totally cute! Wish I could do that!

that picture of phoebe is so DAMN cute. And the slippers- I am very impressed. VERY!!I agree with you about not wanting to be induced. I hate how all these docs are so eager to get the baby out as soon as the "due date" passes. I understand the placenta can only last for so long before it deteriorates, but that's supposedly after 42 weeks. I hope they don't have to induce, and you go naturally, and dialate ALL the way this time. How are the contractions?

I'll come up there and bitch slap that bastard. Baby comes when baby is ready, yo.

And the slippers are super cute. AND I'M LINKING TO YOU RIGHT NOW! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

I love those slippers! Very cute.

One of my coworkers showed me the sock she was making with circular needles. I can't even crochet correctly, much less knit. The circular needles look so complicated. Good luck with that!

YOU CAN KNIT!!! Ya-hoo!!!! I'm so proud of you.

And just so you know, I totally back you up 100% - don't let them induce you. Make them do this YOUR way.

Cant wait to see the newest blue. :)

Wow, you delivered Phoebe at 8cm?! Wow. That sounds painful. Stupid ass doctors.

Yeah I'd totally skip out on the induction. But hopefully baby will arive on his/her own before then and you won't have to worry about it. Good luck mama, I'm so excited for you! Peaceful birthing vibes headed your way.

Ooh, I hope you don't have to be induced, either. I do hope you don't have the baby on Thanksgiving, but hopefully you will on Friday. As for the knitting, I'm not at all surprised you can do it. You seem to be able to do whatever you set your mind to do. I'm so jealous! Good luck with the delivery if you don't blog again until afterward!

Okay first off, that pudwanker (God I love that word) of a doctor needs to be told that YOUR body won't be birthin' no baby without your say-so! I sure hope baby comes in his/her own time though!

Secondly, I'm SOOOOOO TOTALLY jealous of your knitting skills. I knit some dishcloths once and they were supposed to be square. Yeah - is stretched out diamond a shape?

And last but certainly not least....I think you are WICKED AWESOME and I've been linkin' your ass since I found you.....I didn't know you didn't want that, but now that you do, you should know you are SO TOTALLY linked and I come to visit every day hunny!

Okay - have a good night!Karen

dammit. Now I have to learn to knit because the only thing keeping me from it was the idea that it was too hard. Crap on you. and avoid the induction, no no no no no no no no, I had two inductions as well and the last one convinced me that I would either a)go to a midwife next time or b) never have any more kids, ever. I think we're opting for b.

My favorite part? "You PUDWANKER!" ROFL. Gotta write that down, too. I did link to you before I read this last piece of post. So, whatever it was, I'm glad it's over 'cause I have GOT to keep coming back!

Yay, I was gonna ask you if I could link to you again!! Good sign the drama is over.

I'm mad I was induced for my labor although I didn't disagree at the time, I just wish I was more patient, we didn't really have a great reason. So what's his deal, why won't he just do u/s to make sure everything is still ok and skip the induction if not necessary?? Especially isn't the due date kind of an estimate..you don't know exactly when you conceived?? I have a feeling you'll be going before then, sending you labor vibes right now!

Delivering at 8cm?? I didn't even know that was an option, I'll take my c-section over that anyday. OUCH!
