Clearly, I need a life

It's no secret by now that I my job requires me to be online for extended periods during the day.  All of my co-workers are in different locations, so we keep in touch by chatting all the time, using IM.  Works great.

So, I wake up this morning in dread and panic because of the dream I had been having, involving said chat program.  In my dream, the program had rolled out a new version, and the way the interface looks had changed, so everything was completely different.  You could import your contacts to invite them to chat, and they had this "quick chat" feature that removed all text styling (why?  I DON'T KNOW. )

Anyway, while I was sitting there trying to figure everything out, and not accidentally import contacts that I didn't need, one of my co-workers pinged me in chat.  I had changed the chat view, though, so I couldn't read their message or reply.

OH THE HORRORS.  In my dream I was FREAKING THE EFF OUT.

I woke up all upset from this, people.  I cannot believe that I had such a nerdy lame-ass dream or that it instilled so much panic in me.  Seriously.  I'm going to need to make some friends, or join the PTA, or something, just to stop the insanity.

I am in el-oh-vee-ee.

About a month and a half ago we were in Charleston for various and sundry reasons, and I insisted we swing by Target, since it's been about a year since I've been to one (feel sorry for me?).

I wanted, specifically, to pick up some Seventh Generation laundry soap and give it a try, because I've heard good things about it.  Like, it's good for Mother Earth and whatnot.  So I picked up a bottle (dude, $15, it was effing expensive) but it smelled soooo damn good.  And seriously - it was excellent at actually getting dirt out of our clothes.  These girls are messy, so that's saying something.

I ordered a case - six bottles - of it from Amazon.  And some Method fabric softener, which smells nice without being overpowering.  I'm using a Downy ball since we our machine doesn't have a place for fabric softener (is that legal?) and I'm super impressed.  Our clothes are squeaky clean, and smell good, and we have enough laundry soap to last for, like, two weeks.  Plus, since I got it from Amazon with free shipping, it was pretty cheap (only about $2/per bottle than what I was paying).  It's ridiculous that I had to order laundry soap from Amazon, but whatever.

Dirty hippie my ass, right?  Right.

I'm going to be so tired.

I totally can't sleep, and this has been a problem for the past few nights. I lie awake thinking about Phoebe's school, house repairs, high fructose corn syrup (evil!), and what color my hair would be if I stopped dyeing it.

You know, normal stuff.

Phoebe's school freaks me out a lot, because I'm not putting her in public school here, and I have yet to get off of my ass and decide what we're going to do about homeschooling. That, in turn, brings up issues with us living here, and how there are absolutely no resources for the type of lifestyle we want to lead. Which, makes me think about all the things I want to do, that we just a) don't have the time for, b) don't have the space for, or c) don't have the money for, and how we should move.

By the time I've run through the list in my head, and re-thought everything six or eight thousand times, the sky is getting lighter, and the birds start chirping, and then it's over. Big fat suck, no sleep for me. Maybe I should just order a homeschooling book, and call it a night.

What I did this summer...

Not a whole lot, actually. I worked a bunch, we went to Charleston a couple of times, and I cut my hair. That's pretty much it.

I did change my site up, but with the new Squarespace V5 release it took me, like, four minutes. In dog years, though, that's like a whole month, so let's go with that.

Phoebe is learning to read and spell, Charlie is learning to say "th" and "l" instead of "d" and "y", like Yook at dat dog over dere! and Marissa is a 5th grader. I am in the process of thinking about possibly starting Halloween costumes, but if the heat doesn't let up then forget it. I'll draw some arrows on shirts and they can dress up as environmentalists.

We'll just have to see.

Coming up for air.

Man, things have been crazy busy around here lately. Cra. Zay. With work, and errands, and Soli finally becoming a "woman" it's been neato, I tell you. Oh, I had planned to blog about the dog's vagina, but I can't, in good conscience, do that to people. I will say that of all the crazy, that was the one thing I most enjoyed. No, really.

This weekend it's going to get some more crazy, with Marissa coming home from her visit, and the godmother flying out to see us, both on the same day. The Godmother will be accompanied by her fancy new GodDog (palindrome!) and we're all very excited. Crazy excited, even.

When I get a minute or five, I'm planning on giving my site a brand new face, which should be awesome. I also have ten thousand crafty things I've been putting on hold, because there are only so many hours in a day, and sometimes I spend them sleeping.

One last crazy note: the husband, he has been blogging. On purpose. Somewhat regularly. Check his site out if you feel like it, because he's crazy cool.
