Gearing up

We've been visiting the river at the end of our street just about every other day, in preparation for our trip to the lake.  There was some problem with the boat motor, so my dad's been working on it and just got it fixed.  We're going out tomorrow, all day, and I'm SO EXCITED.

I'm a little worried about Charlie -- she doesn't want to go into the water down by the river, so we'll see how she does on the boat.  She was such a waterbug last year, it cracks me up thinking about the difference from last year to this year.  All she'll do now is stick her feet in, and throw rocks.  Phoebe and Marissa, of course, jump right in, and Phoebe can almost swim without her floaties -- she's getting very bold.

yep, fully clothed

I'm looking forward to hanging out all day, swimming, eating, relaxing, and throwing the random child in the water.  Depending on how things go I just may never come back -- I wonder if I can get WiFi on the boat....

Getting some new glasses

From Zenni Optical again, of course.  I’m so excited, I’ll finally have prescription sunglasses!  I also ordered these frames, they’re so kewl.  They look purplish in the picture, but are supposed to be black and red (according to the description).  I just hope they don’t look ridiculous with my round-ass basketball head.

I hope I'm not dooming myself to failure

I ordered our seeds. We are going to do a garden this year, come hell or high water.  I hope I didn't order too much -- I tried to stick with things that seemed pretty easy.  I held off on bell peppers, as I thought that was too ambitious for our first try.  So, I got:

  • bush beans
  • broccoli
  • carrots
  • chives
  • lettuce mix (two different kinds of romaine)
  • squash/zucchini mix
  • cherry tomatoes
  • regular tomatoes
  • strawberries
  • potatoes

It sounds like a lot. I'm fearful that I may have lost my mind.

Growing

Dude, that wheatgrass is out of control.  That stuff grows crazy fast.  This is only the fourth day:

::Day 4::

::Day 4::

Unrelated, Charlie makes weird faces all the time, which completely crack me up.  Check out the face she made when I asked if I could take a picture of her:

this is my fave

What the hell, right?  She's also learned how to stick out her tongue at her sisters.  She's definitely a character.

Magical steamy curls

When I was younger I remember going to my mom's friend Marie's house, and for some reason I needed to curl my hair.  She had this crazy hotroller set that she let me use -- the rollers used steam, and you had to put salt in the water.  They gave me the most stay-put curls ever.  Does anyone else remember these?  I used some of my magic Googling search powers, and discovered that they still make them (only now there's no salt needed).  They're the Caruso Molecular Steam Hairsetter something-or-other, and man I want them so bad.  I must have them.

It seems that now that my hair is shorter it doesn't stay curly as long.  Plus when I curl it with a curling iron it just looks fancier.  To me, anyway.  It would be much more convenient to use rollers, and then have those curls stay-the-hell put.  Plus it's Molecular, which makes it sound very scientific and effective.  I'm the kind of person that is suckered by all those marketing ploys.

I think Bryan should buy them for me for Valentine's Day, because I can't wait until my birthday.  Plus, hotrollers are romantic.
