So. Totally. Validated.

Alternately titled: one of the many reasons why I'm glad I have two tons of crap around here.
Marissa comes into my office yesterday and hands me a note. A note that looks suspiciously like an invitation.
"What's this?"
"Oh, that's an invitation."
Ahh. I'm brilliant.
I open it, and it's an invitation to a birthday party for one of her school friends.
Then I check the date.
Then I double-check the date.
Then I ask, "Um. When did you get this?"
She says, "Yesterday."
The party was for THAT DAY. As in, the VERY DAY she handed me the invitation. She's a lucky little kid that she only got the invitation the day before, BUT STILL.
So I whipped out all my crap, and came to the rescue. I made the birthday girl a purse (what little girl doesn't like purses, huh?) and gave her some books we had that Marissa had never read (I know, it's kind of gross, but they were brand new, so I guess it wasn't that bad) and I made her some dragonfly clips and a bracelet.
The gifts were well-received.
Score one for mom.
