Vacation fun

In light of the 3 birthdays (plus Mother's day) this month, we decided to do a family trip instead of having a bajillion parties.  I've been wanting to see some caverns, so we chose Luray since it's close, and has 23 acres.  Plus it's fun for even the littlest kid, even if they don't understand exactly what it is.

They have headsets so you can do an audio tour at your own pace, with a separate audio description for kids taking the tour.  I loved it because we were able to go at our own pace, and the kids totally had a blast.

After the caverns we headed next door to the maze.  My feet were killing me, and I hate mazes (since my sense of direction is, like, nil), but I thought the kids would like it.  Marissa seemed to enjoy it, and Charlie just kind of wandered around, but Phoebe became pretty pissed about 5 minutes in, since it wasn't easy figuring out where to go.  I found it hilarious that she kept insisting we just tell her which way was the "right way."

Phoebe was still mad by you.

Tomorrow I think we'll hit the battlegrounds, provided the weather holds up (*crossing my fingers*). I'm so tired from all the walking, I think I'll need a vacation from our vacation.

Going to see the midwife again

We have an appointment this afternoon to see the midwife, and possibly find out the baby’s gender.  I think it may be too early, but you never know.  I kind of think we should do some sort of betting pool — not because hey! the gender is so important! but because SERIOUSLY.  We have three girls.  And I think this one is a girl, but I really don’t have a strong feeling either way (like I did with the other 3).  Maybe that’s telling in itself?

If this one has a penis you’d better feel sorry for him, because with 3 older sisters he’s going to have a bitch of a time bringing girls home, and will spend the next 18 years fighting off his siblings dressing him up and putting makeup all over him.

For reals.

Since I'm going on and on about it

I’m elated (ELATED!) that it’s been sunshiney and warm lately.  Of course, now that I say (type?) this, it’s going to snow.  For a month straight.

We’ve been having so much fun playing and planting and just sitting in the sun that I haven’t taken very many pictures, but these few pretty much sum up what I’ve been missing.

Midwifery and pics

Yesterday we drove about 1.5 hours to go meet our midwife for the first time.  She is AWE. SOME.  I am so happy that Bryan found her.  I feel so much calmer about how this whole process is going to go down, and this is exactly what I wanted for our last baby.

They had to do labs on this visit, and OH MAN I thought I was going to pass out.  You know my thang with the “b-word.”  I can’t think about it, or look at it, and I don’t want to hear about it, which is normally not really a huge deal.  But the pressure was on in that room: the midwife was there, and the nurse doing the draw, and Bryan and the kids.   I had to be tough.

So, I turned my head and tried not to think about it.  Unfortunately, they were all staring at me, and the nurse kept TALKING AND TALKING, using every  one of my damn trigger words.  Inches from my face.  And everyone was watching, did I mention that?  Plus the actual, you know, event.  With the stuff.  Oh, man.  I held my shit together, and joked about how brave I was (oh, ha ha, I am so funny) and then stood up, and tried not to fall over.

Bleh.

My arm is all bruised from the spot.  So effing nasty.  But I was rewarded with pictures of the tiniest little, so I guess I’ll deal.

Getting some new glasses

From Zenni Optical again, of course.  I’m so excited, I’ll finally have prescription sunglasses!  I also ordered these frames, they’re so kewl.  They look purplish in the picture, but are supposed to be black and red (according to the description).  I just hope they don’t look ridiculous with my round-ass basketball head.
