So. SO.  SLEEPY.

I woke up about a half an hour ago and already I want to take a nap. What is WRONG with me? I mean, man! I used to have to work and get myself up and ready in the morning, get Marissa ready for school, and get Bryan awake and moving.

I'm lucky nowadays if I comb my hair, and it's a damn rare day if I actually shower, get dressed in "real" clothes, and do my makeup.

Yesterday it was over 100 degrees here. Ugh. I was watching my nephew while my sister ran some errands, and he and Phoebe were running around the house eating popcorn while Marissa was swimming. Well, both the toddlers (OH YES, Phoebe is a toddler now! Huzzah!) came over to me, and their hair was plastered to their heads. With sweat. I couldn't very well take both of them into the big pool, so I pulled Phoebe's baby pool into the backyard under the canopy, filled that bitch up, and plopped their butts in it.

After about 10 minutes of Phoebe being in the pool she signed "up" and "night-night", because I guess she was tired but just too hot to sleep. I just can't afford to run the air conditioner right now, and it sucks, but that's the way it goes. I know I always bitch about maintaining the pool, and that it's not worth it, and it's just an attractive nuisance, but yesterday... oh, yesterday, I TOOK IT BACK.

Biggity Books.

A long time ago in a blog not so far away, I posted a list of books/authors that I would like to read. I looked at the stack of books currently in my "to read" pile and was curious to see how much of the fancy-pants reading I've accomplished.

Uncle Toms Cabin
Moby Dick (for real this time, not the Cliff Notes version)
-- eh. Started, didn't finish.
Slaughterhouse Five
Kurt Vonnegut
-- read one, but it counts. :)
Dharma Bums
Jack Kerouac
Animal Farm
Catch 22
Douglas Adams
-- in my "to read" pile

I have just recently (as the last couple of weeks) read:
Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier
Seven Years in Tibet by Heinrich Harrer
Sugar Cage by Connie May Fowler
and currently reading Two of a Kind: The Hillside Stranglers by Darcy O'Brien - (which is REALLY grim reading, but I have to finish it because I'm weird that way).

I need to go through and add more books to my fancy-pants reading list, but I think I'm doing pretty well for now. I had gotten a gift card for Waldenbooks, so I went there the other day because I was completely and TOTALLY out of reading material, and needed a book in the worst way. I picked up Blind Side by Catherine Coulter and The Snow Garden by Christopher Rice, both because they were on sale and had lotsa pages. I think it's a pretty damn sad day when you go into a book store to buy a book, and they all range from $12-$14. Listen, authors (or should this be directed to the publishers?): skip the pretty covers and the fancy pictures, and lower yer damn prices! I would much rather buy an ugly good book that's not too expensive than pay a lot for a pretty cover.

I've bought a lot of used books off of Amazon, because it's way cheaper than the bookstore, but it annoys me to no end to read a book that has parts underlined and writing in the margins (yes, I KNOW that's foreshadowing, thank you for pointing that out). It's always hit or miss with the thrift stores, but I've found some pretty good random books there.

Point being? Umm.... oh, yeah. I've read some books, and some of them were on my fancy pants reading list.

The end.

My ankles are fat.

They're swelling. Probably because of the heat. Oh joy. I forgot all the *fun* things one gets to go through when one gets pregnant about 10 months after one already birthed a child.

I really really really really really want to cut my hair all off. I want to cut it short. Like, sexy-I-probably-can't-pull-this-hairstyle-off-because-my-face-is-fat-and-going-to-get-fatter spiky short. And I want purple streaks in it. And I want my eyebrow pierced.

I won't do the eyebrow thing, though, because I have children that like to pull things and I'm not MASOCHISTIC, but yeah, I've thought about how cool it would look clinking against the rim of my eyeglasses. Heh. I would be HOT.

I can't pull off short hair because I don't have a cute little oval face, or square face, or heart-shaped face. My face is round like a basketball. And my forehead is reminiscent of the long lost race of Neanderthals (yup, I'm a direct descendant, minus the hairy chest).

My friend Jen has been dyeing my hair for me, but lately she's been busy (and I've been broke) so it hasn't gotten touched up, which it badly needs. Usually I don't let ANYONE touch my hair to cut or dye it. Because it's wiley, and only I have the powers to control it. The problem with having Jen dye it is that she does all this complicated shit to it that I can't do because I only have two hands. Soooooo.... maybe I'll go back to red.

I used to be pretty. With red hair. Maybe having red hair will make me pretty again?

I'm wearing size 4 jeans in this pic. Is it wrong that I want to kick my OWN ass?

Better pic of the red hair. There was another person in this pic, but I don't talk to her anymore, so I tried to crop her out.

A recent photo for comparison's sake. Mind you, it was taken about 10 minutes after I woke up first thing in the morning. But still, I don't look so good.

I'm fairly certain that I won't be cutting my hair, because I've worked like hell to grow it out, and at least it draws attention away from my double chin. But maybe yes with the red.
