DOOD!

A long time ago, I bought a crocheted soaker pattern from Dandelion Dreamers to make Phoebe some soakers.

Well, yesterday I was on one of my mama boards and I noticed that there was a drawing to celebrate their one-year anniversary.  They were giving away either a custom soaker, a fruit set, or a veggie set.  I went ahead and entered the drawing, not thinking much of it except the fact that I'm glad that this chick is doing so well with her patterns and such (her patterns are sooooooo easy to follow, and I was super excited to find a crocheted soaker pattern, because all the existing ones were for knitters).

I won.  I can't believe I won!  I know it's kind of lame (when I told Bryan he rolled his eyes at me) but I DON'T CARE!  I never ever win anything.  Ever.  So I picked the fruit set.

The thing is, though, that the value for her to make the fruit set is $35.00.  I really want the pattern for the fruit and veggie set.  The value for the fruit set w/bag and the veggies is $17.50.  I'm wondering if she would just give me the patterns, instead, or would it be rude to ask her?

I should just be happy that I won at all (which I am, of course) but I *really* want those patterns.  I know, I'm such a brat.  Feel free to tell me to shut up and just accept that I won.

*I WON!*

For those of you that have no earthly idea what soakers are:  Here's one of the soakers that I made for Phoebe with Patti's pattern.  I put a felt flower on the butt, how cute AM I??

Anywho, you put them in a pinned or snappied diaper, and you put the soaker on over top, like bloomers.  It's in lieu of a diaper cover.  Usually soakers are made from lanolized wool to make them water resistant.  Unfortunately, Bryan sucks balls, and shortly after I made this he washed it in the washing machine and dried it in the dryer, so it felted and didn't fit her anymore.

I went to the link, but I still don't understand what a soaker is. Help

I'm with Marita, I have no idea what a soaker set is. I can't imagine Phoebe would like wearing wet pants...

They're knitted or crocheted pull-on bloomer type pants. Um, I'll see if I can dig out a pic and I'll post it for reference.

Thank you for the response. I take it they are just cute pants to wear under whatever else you may be wearing on top. I saw the pictures on the Dandelion Dreamers website, but didn't get it =) btw CONGRATULATIONS on winning! IMHO, it doesn't hurt to ask about getting a pattern instead of the finished product... the worst she can say is "no".

Daphne,

Would you be open to sewing a wonder woman skirt for me? It would just be an itty bitty thing but I would sooooo much rather give you my business than a)someone I don't know and b)trying to spend 55 hours doing it myself when I can't even figure out how to refill the bobbin! Let me know... how much, etc. Helen

What happened to yesterday's hard-nosed bitch?

Take the prize AND ask for the pattern. Maybe she'll be flattered... maybe she'll think you're a cheap and ungrateful. (But she probably wouldn't think the latter.) Ask!

I say "go for it". Jenn is right, all she can say is "no", and it's not even like you have to ask her in person...Ahhh, the internet. ;) ;) ;) Try it.

It does feel good to win something, especially when it's a drawing where chance and luck is involved! Cute soakers. I've never seen them crocheted before, only with the felted wool, but I like 'em.

Way to go! It's always fun to win something - kind of perks up the whole day! :)

Kick ASS! I never win anything either so I feel your joy, girl. And yeah, ask. Worst she could do is call you a meathead and tell you to piss off!

And LOVE the soaker. LOVE IT. Damn Brian and his desire to help with housework. ;)
